Nancy presents a range of contemporary ceramics with a strong emphasis on form, inspired by her love for ageing industrial buildings. Naturally occurring colours and textures bring a grounded, earthy element and Nancy describes her work as a conversation between these two worlds, thus drawing attention to the material composition of clay itself. Functional yet sculptural, her work creates intrigue by contrasting sumptuous, luxurious qualities with the raw and utilitarian; Shapes feature sublime clean lines with strong, minimal silhouettes while quietly cultivated chaos reigns elsewhere, in rich surfaces incorporating layered glazes, oxides, wax resist brushwork and sections of unglazed clay.
