Rose Jollands

Rose paints over old picture frames, building layers of pigments to create a tactile surface full of atmospheric shades. Overlaid are impressions of local views and dramatic cloudscapes, sourced from photos she takes while walking about West Yorkshire. The images flicker between representation and imagination, rendering fleeting light effects through complex mark making.

After completing her fine art degree as a mature student in 2020, Rose is focusing on developing a unique painting style and exhibiting locally through venues such as South Square Arts Centre and Bingley Gallery.
