The Accidental Potter
Specialising in rugged and abstract vessels, most of James’s pieces draw on the 16th-century Japanese art of Raku for their firing process. The figurative sculptures serve as visual representations of mental illness symptoms, such as emotional overwhelm, depression, and despair.
One admirer of their work remarked: “I can relate to this. I feel like if you looked inside my brain, that’s exactly what’s inside.”
