Hannah Ferreira-Allen creates paintings that respond to place, in particular the landscape of Trinidad where she was born and lived as a child. With an English mother and Trinidadian father, and a life spent in the UK and the Caribbean, her fusion of experiences and heritage complicates a sense of belonging to either country.
Her work investigates her relationship to the landscape of Trinidad where she occupies the interstice between insider and outsider. The paintings expose her point of view as an interloper of a familiar yet strange land.
