Ben creates bold cyanotype prints of urban landscapes from photographs he has taken around West Yorkshire using this historic exposing technique. His focus is on the unseen or misrepresented, showing details in places that are often overlooked. From mixing his own chemicals, and hand-coating watercolour paper, he exposes and develops each print individually. The finished pieces carry subtle variations, making every print unique.
Ben works with cyanotypes as this method has a low impact on the environment, both in terms of the chemicals used and the amount of water needed to rinse prints, which is important to his practice.
