This exhibition takes place at Open Village location no 10 (75 Albert Rd) alongside work by Resident Artist David Starley, Kath Bonson Ceramics and Mike Bentley, Woodturner.

Saltaire may now be seen as a centre for contemporary artworks but, even at the height of its industrial might, art was taught and practised here. Like many magnates in the textile trades, Salt knew the importance of good design and through his Shipley, School of Art, based initially in what is now known as Victoria Hall, he brought in artists to offer high quality tuition to those who had talent. Other art schools, in Keighley and Bradford also developed from earlier Mechanic’s Institutes, the graduates were often inspired by local landscapes and encouraged by the art- buying middle classes on the prosperous city. This selling exhibition includes a broad selection of earlier artists with links to Saltaire and the immediate area.
