17Bradford School of Art: Wool Stories
An exhibition of work by students of Foundation Degree in Textiles Practice, Bradford School of Art (Bradford College).
Each student has taken their own individual direction to explore the projecttheme of ‘Wool Stories’. Starting from a visit to Salts Mill based H Dawson, students were inspired by the incredible properties of wool fibre, its versatility as a material and the heritage that connects wool to Yorkshire and the wider world. The university level courses in Textiles Practice are designed for those wishing to develop professional practice in textile art, contemporary craft and designer-made products. Students learn technical skills in stitch, mixed-media and woven textiles, as well as focussing on researching ideas and developing original designs. The unique part-time, blended learning format is taught in a mix of weekend workshops on campus and distance learning from home.
Participating artists: Bhumi, Heather Coates, Georgia Hurley, Emma Lewis-Gibbs & Emma Parsons.
With thanks to H Dawson for supporting this project.
