12Ellie Hawkes
Ellie’s practice explores how natural forms can be reinterpreted through digital processes. Using techniques such as photography, scanning and printing, she creates intricate compositions from foraged or sustainably sourced flora and fauna. Time spent walking through our landscapes often sparks new ideas, allowing observation and connection with nature away from the screen. Back in the studio, Ellie combines repetitive scanning with careful digital editing to develop layered designs that respond to seasonal changes. Circular forms frequently appear, magnifying delicate details found in nature.
Recent works experiment with collograph and screen printing, exploring unique shapes and expressive mark making alongside digitally printed surfaces and translucent perspex discs.
