Ellie Waters

A photo-based artist, Ellie has been working to digitise her late grandfather’s – M.J Burgess – photographic archive, a collection of over 20,000 photographic slides (and counting!). Focusing on his immediate surroundings, Burgess documented working-class towns in the North-West of England, circa 1960-90s.

With a love for flora and fauna, in his later years he turned his camera towards public and private gardens. It is these photographs that inform the following series of works, a celebration of British flora and fauna, of his garden – where he was happiest.
