Gabi Komar-Dixon Ceramics
Gabi’s highly decorative ceramics reflect the tactile joy of throwing clay on the pottery wheel. She experiments with form, surface texture and glazing to create individual and small-batch pieces that are best experienced in the viewer’s palms. The vessels are embellished with imprinted pattern, using a variety of tools and traditional slip trailing methods. The focus and speed of throwing is balanced with the slow, mindful decorating techniques that follow.
The shapes and colours are a sentiment to Gabi’s love of nature, especially the sea. Her aesthetics are also influenced by the ornate art nouveau style of her birthplace, Budapest.
