Helen explores the themes of the environment through her paintings and drawings, whether it be the beauty of a landscape, or animals and birds. Colour and light are explored using a variety of media ranging from traditional oil and acrylic paint to airbrushed inks, pyrography, coloured pencils and mixed media.

Helen aims for realism but uses colour and texture to present animals in interesting ways. Landscapes are often painted from photographs or sketches that she has created to capture the feeling of the place in time.
