15Ocre Natural Dye Studio
30 Helen St
Kayleigh Davis’ work seeks to explore the impermanence and fragility of the natural world throughout the seasons by embedding foraged and grown pigments and prints into habotai silk. Her process is intrinsically meditative as she forages for seasonal botany around the landscape in Marsden and grows her own dye plants.
Each textile piece is born out of a lengthy and wonderfully tactile series of painted and layered natural dye processes, with the outcome yielded often wildly dissimilar from its initial appearance. Her pieces are living artworks whose pigments interact with their environment and change over time.
