22Tulin: Glasswork
50 George St
Tulin finds working with glass mesmerising: it’s both beautiful and complex. She creates small vessels, kiln-formed and then cold-worked, whose colours and shapes allude to memories of places encountered during her travels – the landscapes, and the flora and fauna she has seen, home and abroad.
‘Vessel’ itself can be interpreted as meaning ‘container of the self’ and ‘metaphor for the soul’, and these objects touch on themes of identity. They also seek to reflect an indulgence in the sheer joy of glass; how it appears to change according to the constant play of the shifting light.
