Artist Claire Tindale, with Saltaire Arts Trail, is developing a commission for the roof space in Salts Mill.
She is creating a ‘model village’ of hundreds of needle-felted houses with the aim of reflecting the homes built in the early development of Saltaire, using natural wool from British breeds of sheep. The large-scale installation references the history of Saltaire and the woollen textile industry. But in order to create the hundreds of houses, Claire needs your help!
Claire will be leading workshops for local residents to learn how to needle-felt and create a house for the installation. We are keen to recruit volunteers to make at least another 10 houses independently as this will help achieve the target.
Please email Peter at [email protected] if you would like to take part and indicate if you are interested in making more than one house for the installation.
Places are limited so please book early.
