Angela Bell
All Angela’s embroideries are images from her original paintings. She starts by printing an image onto canvas and then guided by the image on the canvas and the original painting she begins freestyle machine embroidery. Freestyle embroidery involves dropping the feed dog and feeding the material through the machine manually which gives greater freedom of movement across the design. Translating the paintings into embroideries gives the work another dimension, thus it is a much more condensed image creating a harmonious composition of colour and thread. The embroideries are approximately eight times smaller than the original paintings.
