Making unique, individual pieces, Fiona hand-builds using a beautiful white textured clay, the final forms carrying random patternations and a highly burnished finish. Her latest pieces are an exploration of emotions and how they contrast, hiding our genuine innermost feelings. Earth Mothers explore the female form and their curves especially during pregnancy.

Burnishing and polishing the clay is Fiona’s therapy, using crystals and spoons to work a shine into the drying clay’s surface, finally achieving a tactile beautiful finish. No glazes are applied to her work, using smoke and combustibles in saggar or naked Raku firings.
