Lasting Impressions: Cloth Taxonomies
The Spinning Room, top floor, Salts Mill Sat 27 – Mon 29 May
Whilst visitors to Salts Mill will be well aware of the mill’s textile heritage, how many make the connection to the clothes they wear day-to- day?
Last year, at Saltaire Arts Trail 2016 artists Hannah Lamb and Claire Wellesley-Smith presented a performative and participatory artwork that aimed to create an archive of the cloth we carry with us all the time; the clothing we wear day-to-day. They collected impressions of over 300 participants clothing on porcelain tiles and written responses to these items. This year, Lasting Impressions: Cloth Taxonomies will be archiving the responses collected, and creating new work using fibre and fabric.
Continuous performances each day between 11am – 12 noon, 1pm – 2pm and 3 – 4pm Visitors are welcome to participate
