Di Payne

Di Payne is a contemporary landscape painter based in Cheshire. Her work is rooted in a love of the British landscapes. She captures the essence of the places that inspire her practice, capturing and reflecting the feel of the environment, from the barren windswept moors of Dartmoor, Devon to the Scottish Highlands and quieter evenings in Cheshire.

Her work has developed using a wide range of media, primarily acrylics, but increasingly ink, gouache, pastels and occasionally collage. She is happiest working “En plein air” in order to feel part of the environment, and to capture the feel of the light and space that surrounds her. She embraces the accidental and delight in mark making and using colour. Her work conveys the enjoyment of the physicality of the process.
