Louise Garrett

Louise regularly walk in her local area, responding to the shapes of trees moulded and distorted by weather, age and disease. She uses on location photography, sketching and plein air paintings to inform mixed media studio works that capture her response to the way trees change, their shapes when growing in proximity to each other. They form fantastical, distorted shapes that create wonderful twisting growth patterns that inspire a semi abstracted, expressive response.
