Rural Ireland has a lot of abandoned houses. Often they have been left with contents intact but subsequently ransacked and windows broken. The torn curtains left exposed to the elements were sad reminders of previous inhabitants who had to leave for unknown reasons. The scenes invoked sadness and raised questions about what had happened

In the studio torn curtains were drawn directly onto the lino block and printed using the “reduction technique”. Transparent layers of ink built up to make the images.
