Penny Phillips Ceramics

Penny Phillips is a contemporary sculptor, artist and teacher based in York. Her work explores wildlife and the nature of species loss, conveying the beauty, fragility, and vulnerability of her subject matter. Penny strives to retain the raw nature of clay, using a rich red earthenware with heavily textured surfaces. Using a muted color palette of slips oxides and under-glazes as surface decoration, Penny seeks to evoke emotion and movement in her pieces.
