11Rachael Dee Brien
Village General Store, 1 Daisy Place (closes at 4pm Sun & Mon)
Rachael is drawn to red and blue and uses those colours through lines and forms to create a visual language that she can communicate through. She enjoys using a range of mediums to express her ideas: some ideas are better communicated through a textile piece and others through a painting.
She sees patterns everywhere from nature to architecture: the horizontal lines in silver birch trees bark to tiled buildings. This way of seeing and experiencing the world helps to create the language she uses for a piece. She also uses her art as a form of advocacy.
