Grace Denton

A site-specific textile, interactive installation, built to spectacular dimensions in gaudy and enticing colours. Grace works with oilcloth to make shiny, colourful crafted objects and installations, and is excited to bring this work to her native West Yorkshire in a new formation, and a domestic setting.
This patchwork piece uses the traditional pinwheel pattern, made from oversized, brightly coloured oilcloths that would traditionally be found on the kitchen table, creating a subtly surreal effect. In place of wadding, the quilt is stuffed with discarded carrier bags collected from the artist’s community, allowing an invitingly soft bounce for those who enter the space.
