All Angela’s embroideries are free motion machine embroideries taken from her original paintings. An image is printed onto canvas and used as a guide for the colours of the embroidery.
Freestyle embroidery involves dropping the feed dog on the machine and feeding the material through manually which gives greater freedom of movement across the surface and design allowing spontaneity. Translating the paintings into embroideries gives the work another dimension as it is a much more condensed image, thus creating a harmonious composition of colour and thread.
The embroideries are approximately eight times smaller than the original paintings but they can also be larger or smaller depending on the size of print chosen.
